First Gate Trials

The First Gate consists of nine evaluation trials that all candidates who wish to pursue the rank of Black Adept or higher at the Temple of Satan must complete. These trials are designed to test your commitment to the Satanic path and to determine your suitability for our Black Priesthood. They are to be completed by mail; you mail send the assignments individually as you complete them or send several at a time. All trials should be mailed to the following address:

Black Books

Every Templar is expected to keep a journal of their trials and tribulations here at the Order – a record of the rituals, revelations, imagery and insights you experience on your path of diabolical ascent. These thoughts should be recorded in a black-bound volume of your choosing, which we call a Black Book. Blank Black Books with the Temple’s logo may be available from our Temple store. However, the more ambitious Initiate will bind their own custom Book, perhaps fashioning the pages from animal or human skin and inscribing them with sacrificial blood.

A Black Book is a grimoire, a record of ascent, and a record of your darkest, most secret thoughts – guard it with your life and your very soul. Satan himself is said to keep a Black Book, upon which he inscribes the names of those whose souls he wishes to harvest. By keeping your own Black Book from the outset, you are learning to emulate our Lord by recording your most diabolical ideations, and thus turning them into manifestations of your will by the magick of the written word.

Trial #1: Blood Pact

The first step on the Satanic path is to make a pact with the Devil and declare your allegiance to Him. For this trial you will need a blank piece of paper, a normal pen, a dry pen/pointed stick, a sterile needle or sharp knife, and a black candle.

For this trial Simply write the following Infernal Pact on a piece of paper with a normal pen:

There is no god greater than Satan, Lord of this World. To Him I pledge my allegiance and dedicate my life, in return for power, glory and immortality. Hail Satan!

Now prick your left forefinger and dip the dry pen in the blood. Then sign the document in blood with your Temple name or a personal power symbol or sigil.

On a separate piece of paper, write the following in normal ink:

I certify that I am at least 18 years of age.

Sign this piece of paper with your normal signature. You may also include additional contact information if you wish. Mail your pact and age certification to the address provided above. Once the Temple Lords have received and reviewed your documents, you will be cleared to continue your First Gate trials.

Trial #2: Personal Temple

The second step for the Satanic Aspirant is to construct a black magickal space for your Satanic rituals and exercises. This could be any room, alcove or basement where you can have privacy and separation from the mundane, non-infernal world. It could also be an outdoor location such as a cave or forest grove where you feel the Vi Diaboli – the Devil’s energy – most strongly.

Set up an altar where you can make offerings and focus the Vi Diaboli. Put items on your altar that are pleasing to yourself and to Lord Satan, such as idols of Baphomet or other dark gods, black candles, bowls, skulls, daggers, masks, pictures, altar cloths, incense and jewelry.

Include a pentagram or other Satanic symbol in your temple to show your allegiance to to Lord Satan. Satanic power symbols are discussed elsewhere in this book and can be printed out at 666academy.com/power-symbols.

Follow your infernal inspiration in creating your temple. When you are pleased with its appearance and feel its power, take pictures and/or videos of it and mail them as prints or on USB memory chips to the address provided above.

Trial #3: Satanic Style

Satanic Adepts believe in the power of appearances – to cast spells on others, seduce them to our covens and bend them to our wills. As a Satanist, you must develop a strong sense of style and always ‘dress to impress’ if you wish to be part of our Black Brotherhood. The first person you must impress is the person you see in the mirror every day: yourself. Dressing in a distinctive way during your Satanic practice will change the way you think and force you to begin living in your new, more powerful Satanic persona.

Create a look for yourself that inspires your infernal imagination. Perhaps it is the classic black-robed Satanic cultist look, complete with Venetian mask and pentagram medallion; maybe you are more formal, preferring tailored suits, a well-manicured goatee and filed fingernails; perhaps you are more of a black shaman, preferring to adorn your body with tattoos and primitive animal skins, or nothing at all. The possibilities are endless, and depend entirely on your own inspiration and imagination.

Once you have found the Satanic Acolyte look you like, take a picture of yourself and mail it to the Dark Lords.

Trial #4: The Fire Pentagram Rite

For this Trial, you will alert Lord Satan to your presence by sending a signal using the sacred symbol of the pentagram. The following rite is designed to open a portal into the Hell-realm, both externally and in your own mind.

Go to a remote area such as a desert, field, forest grove or mountain top, away from the prying eyes of mundanes and Yahwehites. You will need to bring a can containing at least a gallon of gasoline. Find a clearing …

Pour the gasoline in a pentacle shape: a pentagram with a circle around it. Make it as large as possible; ten feet across or more.

Trial #5: Evaluating Your Satanic Persona

Read “The Exceptional Satanic Persona” article located in the “Ideology” section of this book. Then mail answers to the following questions to the Dark Lords:

1. Describe some of your greatest hatreds in life – it could be a person, an idea, an experience or something else. How do these hatreds motivate you? How do you repress or act on these hatreds now, and how would you like to act on them in the future?

2. Whom or what do you currently serve? Do you serve them willingly or unwillingly? Why?

3. Read the “Satanic Specializations” section of this book and choose the specialization that most interests you. Which specialization did you choose and why? Be detailed.

4. Describe your “internal empire” – a vision of a different world that inspires and motivates you. What are you doing to manifest that world?

5. Who do you think are some of the most powerful anti-Satanic factions in your society, and how can they be defeated?

Trial #6: Satanic Readings

The Black Priest of our Temple is a scholar who is well-read in the important texts of Satanic philosophy, ideology, theology and magickal practice. We are not looking for digital dilettantes who think that watching youtube videos and surfing social media can substitute for real infernal learning.

For this Trial, choose two of the books below; acquire them, read them, and write reports on them.
